Glass snow globes are fundamentally sealed with a rubber plug. This plug is soft and flexible, which brings specific requirements for designing the interior model:
-
The model should be as wide as possible at the bottom. Only then will it hold onto the rubber once the plug is pushed into the glass.
-
Anyone wishing to build multiple figures into one snow globe should first assemble them onto a common base plate – and then glue this plate onto the rubber.
-
If you want to build an object with small parts at the bottom – like the piglet shown – into a snow globe, you must also build the object onto a plate first; otherwise, the small feet will detach.

By the way, this is one of the most common mistakes made when designing a custom snow globe. We also have a video tutorial regarding this.
